An artificially altered state of consciousness is an altered state of consciousness created through the use of illicit drugs, through euphoria created by insincere excitation during religious services or trying for minor intoxication off the communion wine and Eucharist, or through legal psychopharmaceuticals such as peyote when used by Merkins with no understanding of Native American religions other than as an excuse for obtaining peyote.
