bastardization of culture

The process by which a slice of culture is repackaged into a marketable commodity. Most insidious when done by a major corporation. Such acts usually upset people to the point at which a protest ensues.

Of course, just because some bit o' culture has been bastardized, doesn't mean one doesn't have to like it. In fact, the law of averages says that one probably will. Perhaps bastardization is the true method of progress by which things happen...
