The method of development of a play's plot. A typical dramatic structure, especially in the plays of Shakespeare, includes exposition, in which relevant background information is presented; rising action, which accelerates and adds complications to the plot; the climax (sometimes called the turning point or crisis), which is the moment of greatest emotional intensity or suspense; falling action, which unravels the complications; and the resolution, which settles the play's conflicts.
