endzone

(thing) by Deadbolt (6 y) (print)   ?   (I like it!) Thu Sep 07 2000 at 4:53:07

The 10-yard chunks of real estate at either end of a regulation football field. The rules require they be painted a color other than green to stand out from the grass or turf surface of the regular field; most teams use their colors to distinguish these.

Touchdowns and safeties are scored by the offense and defense respectively for forcing the player with possession of the ball into the endzone.
