I remember the first time I leaped off a 15-foot death drop to evade my would-be captor. I had imagined that time would slow down as I fell; that I'd see my life flash before my eyes as I floated downwards like a feather.

I didn't. I fell like a rock, landed feet first, and slammed into the wood chips with my butt.

I looked up and realized I was safe. No one would be stupid enough to follow me. I got up and jogged it off, happy with the knowledge that I had a move no one could match, at least for a while.
