In VR, the light source placed at the viewer's position facing forward that rotates and translates with the viewer in order to provide illumination of objects being viewed. In well-designed VR you probably shouldn't have to use one.

A light, with a powerful reflector, placed at the head of a locomotive, or in front of it, to throw light on the track at night, or in going through a dark tunnel.
