The cool thing about a parabola is that it has a focal point. If you have a parabola and shine lots of parallel rays at it, all the reflections will converge in one spot called the focal point. This is the same shape of satellite dishes. Notice how they usually have a thingy in front of it to "catch" the collected beams.
