Riser pads are used in skateboarding to raise the deck higher off of the ground. This minimizes wheel bite and can often soften impact when landing big tricks. However, it is said to reduce pop. Riser pads go in-between the deck, and the trucks. The most famous riser pad manufacturer is Dooks.
