One of the 4 troop types within the SAS, Air Troop's specialty is parachuting. Although all members of the SAS are required to be compitent free-fallers, Air Troop push parachuting to the limit. Long Term Members have often logged over 1000 free-fall jumps. This is know and Entry Specialization. There are 3 other troop types; Boat, Mountain and Mobility
Incdently, Air Troops are refered to as The Ice Cream Boys due to the logistics of jumping - That is to say, it takes a lot of time to land, refuel, and rekit, which the troop lads use to relax. Most members of Air Troop come from the Parachute Regiment. Andy McNab (a former air troop member) came from the Royal Green Jackets
