To put an end to Friday night's Chatterbox debate:

The kiwi fruit is actually a huge berry. Kiwi fruit is native to southeastern China. Cultivation of kiwi fruit was spread to other parts of the world in the early 1900's. New Zealand is the world's leading producer of the fruit. It's brown and fuzzy on the outside, sweet and juicy (and a little seedy) on the inside, and fits perfectly in the palm of one's hand. It reminds some (Especially us Freudians) of pussy. Go figure.

The kiwi is a flightless, goofy looking bird native to New Zealand. Kiwis live in dense forests. They are about the size of chickens and have long, flexible bills. The kiwi is the only bird that has nostrils at the tip of the bill. Kiwis are shy and hide during the day. At night they come out to eat worms, insects, and berries. Kiwis do not remind anyone of pussy (I hope!).

The fruit was named after the bird. They're both brown, fuzzy, and a little awkward looking.

No more arguing, OK?
