Cream of the Cool



Just a note for your hospitality,
for numerous couch pillows, always on the floor

To your collection of piano sonatas
dark as coal coffee,
pine scented candles

I appreciated the fresh biscuits
your handmade quilts
the shimmery window in your den
framed with small Christmas lights
all year…

so I was lying on my couch tonight
the TV was on, nothing good
just a movie on MTV with Tommy Lee Jones
about how even fighting aliens wasn't enough
to make him forget the fact that he had once loved a woman
and then lost her.

and one of the commercials showed a naked woman
in front of high school gym bleachers
her nudity was blurred out
but you pretty much got the idea,
or at least I did.

2. Tell us something about you, your background, and what you've been up to lately?

I've just completed my BA in Theatre and Film studies, after spending far far too much of my life not achieving much of anything in the decade or so since I first tried working towards a degree. Which actually happens to be relevant to the next question...

This writeup is in part a response to Dennis Lehane by Bitriot. Because while I love his writing very much he could not be more wrong.
