Alternately manic, surreal, tender and despairing movie by Emir Kusturica starring Johnny Depp and Faye Dunaway and featuring such wondrous and bizarre phenomena as a hand-made flying machine, a fish with one migrating eye, a suicidal girl who wants to be a turtle, a disturbing obsession with the Hitchcock movie North By Northwest, and the dreamlike hopes and fantasies of several confused characters locked in their own various mental and emotional landscapes and dramas who are trying to interact with and love each other, painfully and absurdly, in a world which renders clear communication impossible.
