What I do to encourage people to focus on more than just the New Writeups. There are all-kinds of great pre-voting nodes back there -- cooling one of them will breathe life into areas of the nodespace that have yet to be voted upon.

I vote things up so that they will be rewarded. I cool things so that they will be seen.

This is a practice that should be encouraged. Not only does it breathe new life into overlooked, but wonderful writeups, it fosters good will between Everythingians.

Got a C! to spare? Don't waste it on something inane or passe. Would you really like to put that cool to good use? Spend it on a skillfully composed informational writeup!

This same principle also applies to + voting, so improve your karma and spread the wealth! You'll be glad you did.
