Like the ILO, ITU, and WHO, the Food and Agriculture Organization is a UN agency. Founded in 1945, its mandate is to raise standards of living generally, and more specifically in the field of nutrition. Another important function is encouraging sustainable agriculture. The headquarters are in Rome.
