Celtic mythology probably THE main Celtic hero. His father Cumahl was killed by Goll and he was given in fosterage to the bandroi Liath Luacra and Bodhmall. He ate of the salmon of knowledge and became wise. A main actor in the story of Diarmaid and Grainne, he had many adventures. Legend says he is sleeping in a cavern he built in the Giant's Causeway near Antrim
