Fingers get stiff
Noses get numb
Snot freezes
Wind cuts through your soul

Five below zero

Snow feels like styrofoam
      sounds like jade
      shatters like glass
      dry powder, the texture of salt

Five below zero

A desiccated world
puddles become ice rinks
Slush is now crystalline mud
