Gladiator movies are actually a part of the gay subculture. Makes perfect sense--smooth, muscular men getting all hot and sweaty, and their glistening chests all over the screen. The gladiator is one of the archetypes of gay beauty--again, the smooth, trim, muscular, hairless type.

This was brought to my attention by a gay man when Gladiator came out (so to speak). He was amazed I didn't know this about gladiator movies.

So, if you know men who are more than casually interested in Roman Sport, then, well. . . not that there's anything wrong with that.
