Grand mistakes

A long time ago the folk of Akshehir were banned to carry arms. The mayor and his men would punish anyone caught with a weapon. It comes as no surprise that one morning our own Nasrudin was caught bearing a massive yatagan.

- Nasrudin, - the mayor asked. - Don’t you know it’s against the law to bear arms? What do you need this sabre for?

- It’s not a weapon, you see, - Nasrudin replied. - I use it to correct mistakes in books.

The mayor was furious.

- By God, Nasrudin, who corrects mistakes in books with a sabre?

- You might not know this, - Nasrudin replied. - But books have such grand mistakes, even a sword is too small to erase them!
