Oh sure, I suppose, if you want an excuse,
I could ration my way around this pain
Dynamite a tunnel dead-through the brain
But you know it's no use.
You must know, as I, that smarting truth:
That these lies of mine could only work on you
If you lie as well – to you.
And so, no lies; I cannot soothe,
