Intelegent Scissors is a tool originally invented by Drs. Barret and Mortinsen at BYU. It is a tool that selects images by finding their edges and tracing around them. An implementation of Intellegent Scissors is GIMP's trademark tool, although the current implementation is not very true to the original BYU implementation and doesn't work too well. Rockwalrus is working on a better implementation.
