No studio audience - just two people sitting in a fake den. No audience to play to - you just had Bob Costas (no monologue, no "hip" band) and his guest; questions, answers, banter, broken up by occasional clips of the guest (not just "here's the clip from my new film, Bob" - you could get a "Seinfeld's Greatest Hits" or something). Sometimes the best TV is just radio-with-pictures. When Greg Kinnear took over, it became Yet Another Hollywood Egofest. Like we needed another.
