Lea Hernandez is one of the few
American comic artists whose work could be categorized (if you're
the kind of person who categorizes things) with
shoujo manga. She worked as a
vice-president for
Gainax for a while, did a
column for
Wizard Magazine, did coloring work for
Dark Horse Comics, and some other stuff, all of which is pretty
cool. I know her because she wrote
Cathedral Child and
Clockwork Angels. I've only read Cathedral Child so far, but my man down at the
Comic Stop will be getting me both Clockwork Angels and her latest effort,
Rumble Girls: Silky Warrior Tansie, which looks as though it will be quite a departure from the style of story we saw in Cathedral Child.
She's sort of the godmother of American anime fandom. Neat lady. I'd love to meet her someday.
