A non-gender-specific term for the people formerly described in the US as Congressmen.

This term may have been influenced by the example of "member of Parliament" (MP), but is unlikely to be similarly abbreviated MC because emcee already means master of ceremonies and is a hip-hop term for a rapper.

Members of Congress include both Senators and Representatives.
