Also the name of a Greek prefecture in western Thrace (capital Komotiní). Local name Rodópi. It stretches from the Bulgarian border to the Aegean Sea and is home to a sizeable portion of Greece's ethnic Turkish community and most of the Pomak minority in the mountainous north.
