Theoretically, of course, Sunday school is a place where Christian children learn Bible stories and religious lessons couched in language suitable for them to hear. Depending on denomination, some churches also hold Bible study classes for adults at the same time (my late grandmother's Methodist church did this), but in other churches children's Sunday school takes place while the grown-ups are listening to a normal church service, usually on Sunday mornings.
