Top 40 jock - he turned KMPX-FM in
San Francisco into the first commercial
freeform radio station, playing not only the New and the Kewl, but also non-rock, non-pop musics. Later moved to KPPC in
L.A. (and back to SF, to KSAN), bringing the un-format with him; his idea spread to markets across the
US. Then the sharks moved in...
