A November
1972 cross-country
protest by the
American Indian Movement, meant to cajole the
US government into living up to the terms of the various treaties drawn up (often in bad faith: see
Indian policies of famous Americans) with its
indigenous nations. The final destination was the
Bureau of Indian Affairs in
Washington, DC; the event devolved into an unplanned week-long occupation of the building, in which AIM misplaced
their 20-point manifesto.
