| A relative newcomer in the world of motor sport, the World Superbike Championships (WSBK or just SBK) has grown in a little over ten years to become one of the world's greatest sporting events. In many countries the WSBK Championships are followed by more fans and with greater passion than the official Motorcycle Grand Prix series. Part of the attraction lies in the sport's homologation rules which ensures that the motorcycles you watch out there on the racetrack are essentially the same models you can go the shop and buy; and when you consider that for less than the price of a family car you can get a vehicle capable of 200mph and 0-60 in less than two seconds that's quite some pulling power for the crowds!
WSBK is also a true worldwide sport: winning riders have come from the USA, Japan and any one of a number of European countries. |
