This is the name given to the method of making monsters come after the player in computer games. It involves the monsters all mindlessly trying to make their X and Y coordinates match those of the players. It was used in Robotron and Gauntlet, and you can see it in games like Quake as well. In today's multiplayer games they usually lock onto the player they see first, so let everyone else go first into the room with the Shambler.
