An immensely common device in labs and so-forth, consisting of a gas source, an air inlet, and a metal tube. One lights the top of the tube, such that a gas flame emerges from the top, for the heating of whatever you wish.
In high school biology, I discovered that these devices are rather unnecessary, as one can simply remove the bunsen burner and the gas tube from the gas outlet built into the table, and light the outlet itself. This is very, very amusing, and in most cases creates a flame up to 2' long.
Of course, you should only do this if you are a confident little firebug. But it works, I assure you. And don't let those bastards tell you it will go back into the tank or something silly like that. |
