A bastard word from hamburger, which was originally named for Hamburg, a city in Germany, cheesebuger refers to a sandwich made with ground beef and cheese.

A staple of the American fast-food industry, it is customarily served on a circular bun with lettuce, tomato, onion, and ketchup. Other common toppings are mustard, mayonnaise, onion, bacon, and pickle.

Size is usually indicated by the weight of the beef patty before it is cooked. (example: quarter-pound burgers are probably the most common)
