A society (or group) ordered around unconditional devotion to (or fear of) its "godlike", often authoritarian, leader. Khrushchev coined the term in denouncing Stalin in 1956. (Stalin, being dead, was unable to have Nikita transferred to the Gulag for his remarks). Modern personality cults include Iraq, the Rush Limbaugh radio show, the 700 Club TV show. China and North Korea are in some sort of Cult Limbo, since Mao and Kim Il Sung are still dead.

Why is it that only those we can never be like--like Bill Gates, Larry Ellison, Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, and all the others I can't think of at the moment--are the only ones that media promote?

Hell, I can answer my own question:

They are the ones who distract us from our power to overthrow the interests that use these cults to persuade us to buy their products!
