A book (a real book) that contains just enough information (key, chord changes, lyrics) on hundred of songs to allow a musician to "fake" their way through a song, i.e., play it as if they have always had it in their repertoire. For a piano player, they'll have to fake the left hand-- as a true fake book contains only the notes for the melody line (played with the right hand).
