father

King of the Castle

Seated on a throne in a filthy room
Given myself over to the cathode tube
It hurts me every time I move
Tip back another brew to drown my blues

My sons are grown but remain at home
Can't seem to make it out on their own
They don't mind 'cause I get them stoned
Someone's gotta listen while i bitch and moan

And i'm getting older for every day that passes by
And I'm drinking myself deader tryin' to keep it all inside
Won't admit to failure, I still claim that I have tried
Just another way to pass the time until I die

The woman that I had married had to leave
Pour me up another glass so I won't hafta grieve
This burden that I'm carryin' is too heavy
Hard to feel the pain that you can't perceive

Everyday's the same but somehow worse
It sometimes seem that I've been born cursed
To keep on pouring till my liver bursts
Maybe I'll find peace on the hearse
