Short for "la plume de ma tante est sur la table" (French for "My aunt's pen is on the table"), an expression used to mean stilted, textbook-derived speaking of a foreign language. The expression comes from the really odd sentences used in some textbooks to demonstrate grammar (rather than the sort of thing you are actually likely to say).
