Convallaria Majalis

An easy growing perennial that blooms bell shaped flowers in spring is a favorite ground cover for gardeners. The lily has short, thick, tulip like leaves (just two), and many small white or pink flowers which adhere to a long stem 6"-10", followed by red berries in early summer. The plant spreads easily.

This Lily, its heady, sweet wafts of fragrance mixed with the aroma of lilacs remind me of spring, and the wonderous bouquet of my youth. I used to collect these in our gang way, along with violets, dandelions, lilac, morning glories- and present my mom with a haphazard urban ornament of my love.
