Navigational design is important for informational sites. Most sites have to have a good architecture/organization that will be completely useful to the sites visitors. Most sites have to be easy enough for the average user to navigate. I find that when one designs a site that needs to be navigated intensely, it is often good to have common features that users will be accustomed to.
