From dictionary.com:

"Slang - to travel the streets on foot, especially in search of work. "

Can be one of the most frusterating, discouraging acts to engage in. Pounding the pavement usually involves mass resume-dropping (i.e. applying at many places all in one day). The non-discriminatory nature of this mass applying can cause a low motivation level to make call-backs to rude managers and snotty owners. Pounding the pavement should be avoided in favor of applying to only a few places that you really want to work at. The odds are higher that you will pursue such jobs with any gusto, and consequently be hired.

I forgot to make a call-back today... dammit...
