The Japanese analog of the limerick. Like haiku, senryu is verse in the 5-7-5 form. Unlike haiku, which are serious poems about nature that generally contain a seasonal reference, senryu are humorous poems about human nature. Most so-called "haiku" written by humorists on Slashdot and elsewhere are actually senryu.
