she falls
on crumpled wings
and hears the wind
screaming her name
and feels the rain
crying on her shoulders
while the coldness of
the ground creeps in
and suddenly
she remembers what sadness is
she thrusts her fists
against the earth
and thunder booms
a cold reply
and she sees the world
through broken eyes
so is it really any wonder
she weeps inside
even though her face
is painted with a
brave little smile?
