speaker horn

A feature of early phonographs, which used the horn to amplify the mechanical vibration of a needle (rather than an electronic signal) to make a phonograph record audible. Shaped somewhat like a cone. Most famously seen in a logo once used by RCA which had a dog called Nipper listening to his master's voice coming from a speaker horn.
