Telemark skiing is an old, traditional way of skiing. The man known as the
'father of Telemark skiing' is Sondre Norheim from the county of Telemark in Norway (and hence the name). Sondre was also the father of the parallel turn, the classic alpine turn (also known as the Christiania turn).
