| It's the first thing I notice when I awake. The weight of you. Your presence. Leaning against me, without motive. Eyes closed with skittish lashes-dreaming. Your breath coming in halts and starts, lips parted only a sliver. I don't want to move at all. I want to lie still and feel the air move in and out of you. Watch the sun creep over the bed and light up your face, yelloworange.
So I wait quietly, and notice the way your hand grips the sheet that covers us. Tight, fierce. I wait to see if it relaxes. It doesn't.
But I do. I fall back into sleep as the wall between us disappears. |
