In
fiction, a
narrator who does not provide an
accurate depiciton of events to the reader, either through
ignorance,
delusion, or outright
deception. The textbook example is "
Haircut" by
Ring Lardner, in which a small-town barber recounts a local tragedy to his customer. Though the account may be factually accurate, the reader sees more deeply into the
truth of the situation than the one telling the
story.
