A
boot loader for
New world Macs. It runs inside
Open Firmware and is capable of running a
Linux kernel or booting to another installed
OS. Yaboot is effectively the Mac equivilent of
LILO, but has one advantage in that it can use the Open Firmware network drivers to download a kernel via
TFTP (and can be obtained by TFTP itself, if the correct Open Firmware
variables are set).
Old world Macs use
quik instead.
