The idea (true or not) that most of this century's ingenious inventions were concieved by white males living in the Northern United States, or Yankees.

I work in an office in northwestern Connecticut. We also have a warehouse in eastern Massachusetts. Early one morning, before any of us systems support people got in, one of the Mass warehouse guys sent out an email alerting the whole company that the phones there were not working. However, still before our working day started, he sent out this followup:

Subject: PHONES ARE WORKING

THE PHONES ARE NOW WORKING, I FOUND A BARE WIRE SO I PUT A PIECE OF GUM AROUND IT NOW THEY WORK.

So tell me again, with resourcefulness like this, why am i still employed?
