Inverted Nipples

Everybody knows that belly buttons can be either innies or outies. The existence of inverted nipples, however, is lesser known.

An inverted nipple, also known as an invaginated nipple, is basically a concave nipple. Many women have such nipples. No, really. It's not that weird.

Inverted nipples are usually but not always permanent. Sometimes they can be temporarily "drawn out" by arousal, stimulation, or breast feeding -- in fact, breast feeding or pregnancy may cause the inverted nipples to "pop out" permanently. Women who have inverted nipples can breast feed normally, though they may experience more discomfort than normal, and it may be more difficult for the child to "latch on."

Some women see this as a deformity, and may seek plastic surgery to correct their nipples. Other methods of permanently drawing out inverted nipples include nipple piercing, clamps or other devices, or nipple stretching.

Now you know.
