There’s a subtle yet important difference

between the fireworks and stars.

You wouldn’t quite be there to catch it

if you just looked from afar.

    Both burn bright.
        Both shine light.
            Both bring wonder
                And excite.

Yet the crucial missing factor

(that you may be trying to ignore)

is that stars come back tomorrow

when fireworks will be no more.

If you wish upon a firework

you may yet find your heart’s desire.

But when due time has run its course

it will be gone with its provider.

For there’s a subtle yet important difference

between the fireworks and stars.

Oh, you wouldn’t quite be there to catch it

if you just looked from afar.

                 Both burn bright.
            One burns out.
        Both bring wonder.
    One brings doubt.

Though worry not the common blunder

of mistaking brilliance for permanence.

The simple fact it has expired

is not its meaning’s sole determinant.

Yet they won't broadcast their nature

for signs of light you should bring faith.

But when the burst is gone

you must move on

with elegance and grace.

There’s a subtle and important difference

between the fireworks and stars.

You simply must be there to catch it

even if you're left with scars.

Though you cannot know for sure

until you take that fearless dive

Make it certain lest you forget

it’s never too late to be alive.
