"What hath God wrought?" is the decoded translation of the first public telegraphic message in Morse code, sent by Samuel F. B. Morse on May 24, 1844 to his assistant Alfred Vail in Baltimore from the chambers of the Supreme Court in Washington, D.C.

The phrase originates from the Bible (Numbers 23:23) and was suggested by "the young daughter of a good friend" (who happened to be the Commissioner of Patents), Annie Ellsworth.
