The largest of the
African
snakes,
Python sebae can reach over twenty
feet in length and over 200
pounds in weight. It stays mostly near water and has a range from the
Sahara desert to
South Africa. Rock pythons can live over 25 years in
captivity. They kill by
constriction and their adult
diet includes
rodents, small
antelopes,
warthogs,
dogs,
monkeys, water
birds,
goats and small
crocodiles. Zoos usually feed them
rabbits.
